Guaranteed Ride Home

SDSU partners with the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) to provide the Guaranteed Ride Home Program. Full time and part time employees, including student assistants, are eligible to participate.

Who is eligible to participate?

Full time and part time employees, including student assistants, are eligible to participate.

How does it work?

If you carpool, vanpool, ride transit, walk, or bike to SDSU, you are eligible to enroll in the Guaranteed Ride Home program. If you can't take your regular way home in the event of a qualifying emergency, participants can decide the best method for getting home from work. This includes taxi, rideshare service such as Lyft Standard or Uber X, rental car, or transit. Enrolled participants can receive a reimbursement for up to $100 per ride, three times per year ($300/year total).

What are qualifying emergencies?
  • Personal or family emergency
  • Unexpected overtime
  • Carpool or vanpool ride unavailable due to unexpected schedule changes or vehicle breakdown
  • Bike problems, including a flat tire, mechanical failure, vandalism, or theft
